INTRODUCTION

My name is Ivo Martinovic and I was born in 1976.

By profession I am an industrial designer. I’ve graduated at Academy of Applied Arts & Design in Belgrade in 2000. At the last year of my studies, I’ve won the 1st prize for my lamp design at international competition for lighting – “Young & Design 2000”, held in Milan, Italy. After the graduation I’ve tried to continue my studies by doing post-graduate course, but I didn’t manage. Even though I was accepted at Domus & Polytechnic Academies in Milan, on the basis of my work, unfortunately at that moment I didn’t have enough funds to support my studies and life expences in Italy. 

For the next four years I was doing freelance work between Belgrade – Cape Town – Johannesburg.

In 2004 I founded a small web design studio in Belgrade named “New Page Internet Consulting”, specializing in Flash animated presentational web sites. In 2005, I accepted the invitation to become an assistant professor on the course of computer graphics at private university in Belgrade, called “Singidunum”. In 2006 together with a good friend of mine from South Africa, Julio Wood, I started a commercials production house – “1984 Productions”, in Belgrade, Serbia. In less than two years, 1984 Productions became one of the leading TVC production houses in Serbia, and the only internationally awarded production house in Serbia. In the mean time, New Page, managed as well to receive numerous national and international awards for its designs.

Both companies run successfully to this day.

PROFESSIONAL  EMPLOYMENT

Over the past 14 years, I’ve worked as a freelance designer with most of the advertising agencies in Serbia and S. Africa. Most of my design solutions were officially approved and incorporated in various marketing campaigns.

Since 2004 I am a owner and managing director of Belgrade based web design agency – New Page Internet Consulting – www.new-page.com

Since 2006 I am one of the founders and partners at 1984 Productions House company based in Belgrade – www.1984-productions.com

I was selected as the best student on the course of industrial design at the Academy of Applied Arts & Design to represent industrial designers at the exhibition of Universities of ART of  Mediterranean countries in Sicily.

As a vice-president of FormART- group of Serbian designers, I’ve organised a design event under the title: “The world believes in us, do you…?“ in the most prestige Gallery in the center of Belgrade, which lasted for two weeks.

Exhibition in Politika House, as one of the co-authors / designers of the book “Azbuka Biznisa” I took part in group exhibition, together with 30 other designers that worked on the project.

AWARDS

1997
3rd prize – competition for the symbol of Belgrade, organized by the Belgrade Tourist council and the City Hall. SERBIA.

1998
2nd prize for the design of an electrical wall switch and one year scholarship at the Academy. The competition was organized by METALKA  MAJUR  company, from SERBIA.

2000
1st prize for the design of bend-lamp at the “YOUNG & DESIGN 2000″ international competition in Milan, Italy organized by RIMA EDITRICE. Milano, ITALY.

2002
Golden Web Award for the design of web sites:  Digital Printing Center and Italian Design Center

2002

accepted at Domus Academy, Milano, Italy for post graduated studies, but did not attend it because of financial reasons.

became a member of “ ULUPUDS” internationally recognised association of architects, designers and artists of Serbia.

together with few other colleagues of mine, I formed an association of Serbian designers “FormART” with the main goal of promoting industrial design in SCG.

2002
accepted at I.A.W.M.D. ( international association of web masters and designers ) on the basics of web sites of Digital Printing Center and Italian Design Center.

2003
invited by the Marketing Federation of South Africa to be in the panel of jury for 2003 LOERIE AWARDS competition for marketing and design, for the category of graphic design.

2004
became a member of “Art Directors Club” Serbia and Montenegro.

start to lecture as assistant professor to professor S. Manojlovic at private university Singidunum, Belgrade, SCG, on the subject of NEW MEDIA DESIGN.

In front of Lightology company from Belgrade, Serbia, who is official representative of FLOS ( famouse italian manufacturer of lamps ), I held a lecture on “Achille Castiglioni”, one of the bigest industrial designers of the 20th century.

took part on B-link festival of digital arts held in Belgrade, and gave a presentation on a project that we are currently busy with – Virtual Fair Serbia ( link: www.virtualfairserbia.com ).

As a part of Belgrade Design Week 2007, I represented New Page agency on a one day event “Case Serbia” in O3ON gallery in donwtown Belgrade.
